Using Apps in PBL Lessons
Having access to technology in the classroom everyday can be both exciting and scary. There is a world out there that is evolving each day and the creative opportunities have increased exponentially. This is our window to address issues of motivation and poor self efficacy. Seize this opportunity to make a profound difference in student learning.
Here's my warning to you...Using a device to search the internet everyday is really no different than looking through a textbook or encyclopedia. We have to be better than that. Spending time searching for apps can be a game changer. Remember, your goal is to use technology to get students higher up the Bloom's ladder. Combining technology/apps with problem based learning will make an impact with students. Developing good open ended prompts requires time to think and/or collaborate with your peers. This initial investment will make or break the overall effectiveness of your PBL lesson. Quixey is an app search engine that will save you a huge amount of time as your look for the perfect app. Happy hunting!
